New Delhi: Not only is India the greatest rice exporter in the world, but it also produces a sizable amount of rice in a number of its states. The United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) reports that India is the world's largest exporter of rice, with 41.2% of the total. Following at 14.6 percent and 13.9%, respectively, are Pakistan at 7.8 percent and the United States at 4.8%.
In the country, West Bengal, Uttar Pradesh, and Punjab are the top three producers of rice. Several states are major players in this regard. These states are well-known for their extensive rice farming because of their ideal climate and rich soil.
West Bengal: The state that produces the most rice in India, accounting for 13.7% of the nation's total rice production. It mainly cultivates Aman, Aus, and Boro rice varietals.
With a 13.05% share, Uttar Pradesh is the second-biggest producer of rice. The state leads the nation in rice production thanks to its enormous agricultural area and first-rate irrigation systems.
Punjab: Punjab comes in third place with an 11% contribution. The state's output of rice has increased thanks to its rice-wheat crop rotation system and cutting-edge irrigation techniques.
Odisha (7.2%), Andhra Pradesh (6.9%), Bihar (6.8%), Chhattisgarh (6.5%), Tamil Nadu (5.7%), Haryana (4.8%), and Madhya Pradesh (3.5%) are some of the other important states that produce rice. These states support India's leading position in the world rice market by producing rice for export in addition to ensuring the nation's food security.
The demand for and production of rice are expected to rise in the upcoming years, according to experts, especially with Asia's continued contribution.
